We’re thrilled to invite you to the 8th annual Swain County Agricultural Fair, happening Friday, August 22nd and Saturday, August 23rd at the Great Smoky Mountains Event Park at 1130 Hyatt Creek Road in Bryson City. This two-day celebration is a tribute to our region’s agricultural roots, Appalachian heritage, and the hardworking families who help keep both alive and thriving.

Reminiscent of the county fairs held in the 1960s, the Swain County Agricultural Fair brings together the best of animal husbandry, horticulture, 4-H youth development, home economics, arts, entertainment, and education. The event park will be filled with the sights and sounds of a community coming together.

"Y’all are in for a treat!” says PattiJo Taylor, Chair of the Swain County Agricultural Fair Committee. “The Fair is more than a weekend of fun, it's a celebration of who we are. It’s a true community effort. It takes months of planning and passion to bring it all together, but it’s so worth it when we get to see the pride and joy it brings to everyone involved.”

Entry is only $10 per car. Here’s what you can enjoy:
  • Exciting livestock shows and animal exhibits featuring proud youth exhibitors.
  • Displays of homegrown greatness, including produce, flowers, honey, quilts, baked goods, 4-H youth art, and more that have been judged for a coveted blue ribbon.
  • Live entertainment in the form of Appalachian-style cloggers, a Battle of the Bands competition, and a special concert from Nashville country artist Mo Pitney.
  • A great lineup of food trucks offering mouthwatering meals and the sweetest treats.
  • Many craft and artisan vendors selling their best homemade goods.
  • A variety of educational booths from local community organizations.
  • Fun kid’s activities, and so much more! There’s something for everyone at the Swain County Agricultural Fair.

Friday’s festivities kick off at 3:00 PM with livestock shows featuring market steers and beef heifers, and rabbit and poultry displays. While you’re out and about, be sure to catch the fierce Battle of the Bands competition from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Food trucks and vendors will be waiting for you!

Come back on Saturday starting at 11:00 AM to experience a “Stompin’ Good Time” with WNC’s finest traditional cloggers, and don’t miss Mo Pitney’s lunchtime concert. The livestock shows continue throughout Saturday with the market lamb and goat shows. Youth 4-H and horticulture exhibits will be on full display, as well as a host of education booths. Kids’ inflatables will be there for a good time, and of course, the food trucks and vendors will be ready to serve!

Since its revival in 2017, the Swain County Agricultural Fair has continued to grow in both attendance and offerings. Thanks to support from the NC Tobacco Trust Fund, Swain County Government, and the Tourism Development Authority, the Great Smoky Mountains Event Park—once known as Inspiration Park after the legendary gospel group—has blossomed into a regional hub for agriculture and community events.

As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a member of the North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Swain County Agricultural Fair relies on the incredible generosity of local sponsors and volunteers to bring this event to life each year. We’re deeply grateful for your continued support in celebrating Swain County’s agricultural traditions. We hope you’ll join us in making the 2025 Swain County Agricultural Fair the best yet! See you there.
