Volunteers Needed for the Swain County Agricultural Fair
The Swain County Agricultural Fair is seeking community volunteers to help make this year's event a success. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring fairgoers have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience while supporting one of Swain County's favorite annual traditions.
The 2026 Swain County Agricultural Fair will take place on Friday, August 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas throughout the event, including admissions, exhibits, hospitality, set-up, and clean-up.
Most volunteer shifts are four to six hours in length, although some may begin before the fair opens or continue after closing to assist with event operations. Individuals, families, civic groups, and organizations are encouraged to participate. As a thank-you for their service, volunteers who complete a four- to six-hour shift will receive free fair admission, an official Swain County Agricultural Fair volunteer T-shirt, a complimentary meal ticket, and refreshments throughout their shift.
"Volunteers are the backbone of our fair," said fair organizers. "Their dedication and willingness to serve help create a welcoming experience for thousands of visitors each year. We invite anyone looking to give back to the community and be part of this longstanding tradition to join our volunteer team."
Those interested in volunteering can complete a volunteer application and select their preferred shift times. Applications are now being accepted.
