Plaque Dedication Honors County Fair
We're so excited to announce the dedication of a new plaque!
This plaque is a tribute to all the volunteers, farmers, families, and community members who have made our fair a cherished tradition since 2017. It's a testament to the hard work and passion that goes into creating this annual celebration of agriculture, community, and good old-fashioned fun!
The plaque commemorates with the words:
Swain County Agricultural Fair Est. 2017
The Swain County Agricultural Fair celebrates our community's agricultural and Appalachian heritage by exhibiting animal husbandry, horticulture, 4-H Youth Development, home economics, arts, entertainment, and education.
Revived in 2017 at Darnell Farms, the Fair was inspired by our livestock shows of the 1960s. In 2018, this 8-acre tract formerly known as Inspiration Park, became the official fairgrounds. With funding from NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, Swain County Government, Swain County Schools, and Swain County Tourism Development Authority, the site has grown into a regional agricultural hub.
The Fair operates as a 501(c) (3) non-profit and is a member of the North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs.
