Baked Goods & Preserved Foods

You just might have the canned green bean or strawberry jam that takes home Best in Show—or maybe it’s your baked apple pie or hand-sewn quilt that steals the spotlight! 🌟

If you're proud of your homemade or homegrown creations, the Swain County Agricultural Fair is the perfect place to showcase your talents. With entry categories ranging from baked goods to canned preserves and more, there’s something for everyone—kids and adults alike.
Youth & Adult Baked Goods, Preserved Foods​
​​YOUTH
  • Check-in: Monday, August 10, 2026 
  • Drop-off Hours: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
ADULT​
  • ​Check-in: Tuesday, August 11, 2026
  • Drop-Off Hours: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Location: Swain County Cooperative Extension Center, 60 Almond School Road
Any entry received after these dates will not be judged
Entry Pick-up: Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. ​

Class 6 – Baked Goods
In addition to entry, wrap a cookie, piece of cake, a biscuit, etc. separately for the judges to sample.
  • 6000 – mixes (1/4 of a cake)
  • 6001 – non mixes (1/4 of a cake)
  • 6002 – Cupcakes (5)
  • 6003 – Cookies (5)
  • 6004 – Brownies (5)
  • 6005 – Cornmeal muffins (5)
  • 6006 – Other muffins (5)
  • 6007 – Biscuits (5)
  • 6008 – Other Baked Goods
  • 6009 – Decorated Baked Goods

Class 7 – Preserved Foods
Must be standard half-pint, pint or quart jar. Label bottom with name, age and address. Canned goods must have a label on the jar that states the processing method (pressure canner/boiling water bath canner) and the processing time.
