Get ready to roll into the fun at the Swain County Agricultural Fair's Anything on Wheels Contest! Decorate your favorite set of wheels with this year's Farm Fresh & America 250 theme and show off your creativity. Whether it's a tricycle, walker, bicycle, wagon, scooter, golf cart, or another wheeled ride, we can't wait to see your one-of-a-kind creation!

Contest Rules

ELIGIBILITY
  • Age divisions are:
    • Ages 5–7
    • Ages 8–11
    • Ages 12+ (including adults)
  • Participants may enter one (1) decorated entry per person.

ELIGIBLE ENTRIES
Decorated entries may include, but are not limited to:
  • Tricycles
  • Walkers
  • Bicycles
  • Wagons
  • Scooters
  • Pedal cars
  • Ride-on toys
  • Golf carts
  • Other wheeled items
The Fair Committee reserves the right to determine eligibility of all entries.

THEME
Entries should reflect both of the 2026 fair themes:
  • Farm Fresh & America 250
Participants are encouraged to use creative decorations that celebrate agriculture, patriotism, rural life, or America's 250th anniversary.

DECORATING GUIDELINES
  • Decorations should be securely attached.
  • Entries must be family-friendly and suitable for all audiences.
  • Homemade decorations are encouraged.
  • Participants should avoid using items that could create safety hazards, including sharp objects, open flames, glass, or anything that could fall off during display.

REGISTRATION
  • Pre-registration online is available at this link
  • Register at the Fair Friday (3 p.m.-9 p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) at the Welcome Tent
  • All participants must check in by 3:30 p.m. at the Clogging Stage on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Entries will be evaluated on:
  • Creativity & Originality
  • Overall Appearance
  • Use of the Farm Fresh Theme
  • Use of the America 250 Theme
  • Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail

AWARDS
  • Prizes will be awarded in each age division.
  • The judges' decisions are final.

SAFETY
  • Participants are responsible for the safe operation of their entry.
  • Helmets are encouraged for bicycles, tricycles, scooters, and similar ride-on entries.
  • Limited types of motorized vehicles are permitted. Please call (828) 488-3848 for approval.
  • Participants should follow all instructions from fair staff and volunteers.

PHOTOGRAPHY
By participating, contestants grant the Swain County Agricultural Fair permission to photograph and/or record participants and entries for promotional and educational purposes without additional compensation.

LIABILITY
The Swain County Agricultural Fair, Swain County Cooperative Extension, and event sponsors are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to entries or personal property, or for injuries sustained during participation.
